ODR is a design collective based in Hong Kong, working on architecture, interiors and spatial research.
‘Between Contours’ attempts to integrate the different interfaces of living in harmony and create a fluid, tranquil space for a family of three.
Our client desires that the transformation of the apartment could bring about a home versatile for the life of their young daughter and encourage communications between family members. The planning of the project therefore focuses on the natural flow of spatial landscapes by shaping white contours in various forms of materials to compose the everyday furniture and interior archetypes, so that the family can indulge in a space that filters the hustle of the city.
When in sickness, many has to suppress their fear of entering the dazzling white clinical space. Healing Woods attempts to deliver a sense of home and share solace to their main users – residents, mostly elderlies, in one of the oldest urban fabric in Hong Kong – Kowloon City. Emerging as a visual contrast to the adjacent aged concrete architecture through the use of wood and warm tones, one will slowly ease into a serene space to seek comfort.
